Whispy Woods Project Update: Devlog 1


Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for playing this Boss Battle, I really do appreciate the support!

I've seen some feedback suggesting that the game is slow to run and that certain controls for Kirby are not working, so I've decided to update this battle with a new and improved Kirby!

What's New?

  • A Puff  sprite when Kirby exhales when puffed in the air
  • Optimized animations and audio to play without any delays. Crisp movement
  • New Particle effect when the star attack collides with something (the boss or the walls)
  • Improved audio system so the audio shouldn't be all glitchy (such as the boss' health bar increasing in the beginning)
  • Improved inhaling from Kirby. Objects are easier to inhale now
  • Big fall animation when Kirby is falling in the air for a few seconds
  • Removed the ability to inhale AND shield at the same time

What's Next?

  • Adding the Worms and Gordon (spikes) falling instead of the apples
  • Make the Wind Puff attack from the boss angle towards Kirby's location
  • Adding a second boss fight after beating Whispy Woods (The double Whispy Woods?)
  • I would love to add local co-op. Not too sure if it will work with webGL but maybe another project like the true arena would be better suited for it.

These changes will not be implemented for a while since I am very busy with schoolwork. If you're itching for another Kirby fight, feel free to look at another project I made where you fight against King Dedede
